In the 1990's, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was an environmental attorney who championed a cleanup of the Hudson River that earned him the title “Hero for the Planet” in 1999 from Time magazine.

CBS 6's Liz Bishop asked him where and how his love affair with the Hudson River began. He explained as a young, boy he went on a whitewater rafting trip with his father (former U.S. Senator Bobby Kennedy) in the Upper Hudson — he remembered the water as being the coldest he’d ever experienced—and that, on rafting trips out West he had been able to drink the water.
