AUSTIN, TX—MAY 13, 2024—Independent Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Vice Presidential Candidate Nicole Shanahan today visited the Texas Secretary of State office and turned in 245,572 signatures — twice as many as are required — to gain ballot access in Texas.

“Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s strength, character, and selfless dedication to defend and protect our democracy is a beacon of hope for all Americans,” said Texas State Director Kim Limberg. “Lone Star State volunteers echo this sentiment and believe RFK Jr. is the best person to lead this country.” 

By collecting nearly a quarter of a million signatures in just two months, the campaign has shown it can overcome the most difficult ballot access requirement in the country.

Kennedy is the first independent presidential candidate to make the Texas ballot in more than two decades since Pat Buchanan’s presidential run in 2000. The signature requirement then was just over 56,000, now it’s 113,151.

“RFK Jr. has drawn a line in the sand reminiscent of the determination of our Texas forebears,” said National Field Director Andy Griffith. “It’s time Texans declare independence from the limitations of partisan politics and vote for new leadership.”

The Kennedy campaign has launched a robust ballot access plan to ensure the Kennedy-Shanahan ticket is on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. 

The Kennedy-Shanahan ticket is officially on the ballot in six states — Utah, Michigan, California, Delaware, Oklahoma, and now Texas. The campaign has collected enough signatures for ballot access in eight other states — New Hampshire, Nevada, Hawaii, North Carolina, Idaho, Nebraska, Iowa, and Ohio. 

The Kennedy-Shanahan campaign has collected the signatures needed for ballot access in 14 states, totaling 187 electoral votes, 35% of the 538 total electoral votes nationwide. 

Later today, Kennedy and Shanahan will host a voter rally at Austin’s Brazos Hall to celebrate this ballot access victory.

On May 1, the Kennedy campaign released results from a Zogby poll showing Kennedy beats both Presidents Biden and Trump in head-to-head matchups. Trump defeats Biden handily. Kennedy beats President Trump in a two-way race, by a tight margin. In a two-way race between Kennedy and President Biden, Kennedy wins in a landslide. Kennedy is the first independent ever to defeat both major party candidates in head-to-head matchups.
