Kennedy Jr. didn’t violate New Jersey’s “sore loser” law and can appear on the ballot as an independent candidate for president, the state’s top elections official said Wednesday. Lt. Gov. Tahesha Way, who also serves as secretary of state, issued an order upholding in part an administrative law judge’s determination just a day earlier. The ruling means Kennedy can appear on the November ballot, and Way accepted his petition as an independent. Vermont Digger reports: High-profile third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. submitted twice the required signatures to appear on the ballot in Vermont, according to his campaign. The Kennedy campaign included a screenshot of the official note from the Iowa Secretary of State's Office saying he was on the ballot with the We The People non-party political organization. The Denver Post reports: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has qualified for Colorado’s presidential ballot as an unaffiliated candidate, state election officials said Thursday. Kennedy supporters last month turned in a sufficient number signatures to cement the independent candidate’s place on the November ballot, the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office said. The campaign needed 12,000 valid signatures to earn a place on the ballot, and it submitted just under 30,000. More than 21,700 were determined to be valid. Kennedy has collected signatures to appear on the ballot in 42 states, his campaign said in a press call Wednesday.  Kennedy has pursued a variety of strategies to achieve ballot access across the country, from gathering signatures to partnering with smaller parties to forming new ones entirely. His pursuit of an unaffiliated spot in Colorado comes as state Libertarians say they’ll still work to list him as their candidate — despite the national party already placing its ticket on the state’s ballot. Hannah Goodman, the state party chair, told The Denver Post in a text earlier this week that the local party will nominate Kennedy at an Aug. 12 meeting and will then file the paperwork needed to put him on the ballot again. Kennedy Jr. said Wednesday that his campaign has sufficient signatures to get on the ballot in 42 states — enough to potentially win 480 electoral college votes. The Kennedy-Shanahan campaign needed to collect about 1 million signatures nationally to qualify. “The draconian and Byzantine rules that govern ballot access in the 50 states were written by the Democrat or Republican party to prevent competition to make it insurmountable for an independent candidate for the presidency to ever get their name on the ballot in all 50 states,” Kennedy said in a briefing on his campaign’s ballot access status. “Like many of the other things that people have predicted about us during this campaign, we have been able to overcome impossible odds." West Virginia News reports: The independent presidential campaign of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has submitted more than 19,000 signatures to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office. That’s more than double the 7,947 signatures needed to appear on the state’s general election ballot, but the signatures have to be verified by county clerks throughout the state by Aug. 26, according to Dave Cook, general counsel for the office of West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner. “We’re inspired by Kennedy and his position on issues that matter to us,” said Danette Condon, a volunteer leader with the Kennedy campaign in West Virginia. “We’re thrilled he will now be on the presidential ballot in West Virginia.” The signature verification process must be completed by Aug. 26, which is 71 days before the Nov. 5 election, Cook said. “Obviously with the larger counties like Kanawha, we’re putting a bug in their ear and letting them know that they need to start working on that,” he said. “Most of the signatures probably come from those larger counties.” Read the full article here.

Kennedy Jr. will appear on Nebraska’s general election ballot this fall as a nonpartisan presidential candidate, over an objection from the Nebraska Democratic Party. Kennedy’s campaign submitted more than 5,000 signatures last month to the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office, which announced Friday it had certified Kennedy’s ballot petition with 4,442 valid signatures from registered Nebraska voters.
