EDITORIAL: As President, I Will Help NM Recover From The Biden-Trump Era

Albuquerque Journal reports: Nearly every American has a family member or knows somebody who suffers from addiction, one of the most terrible afflictions of our time. On June 15 at the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, I joined an inspiring group of people for the world premiere of the documentary, “Recovering America.” The film is about the drug crisis in America, in particular the opioid addiction crisis, which is ravaging communities in New Mexico and across the country. Nearly 220,000 Americans died of drug overdoses in the past two years. Per capita, New Mexico is one of the states that’s been hit the hardest. Lots of politicians decry the scourge of opioid addiction, but few offer any fresh ideas on what to do about it. I didn’t know either, which is why I traveled the U.S. in search of the most promising solutions to end the drug crisis and help struggling Americans find lasting recovery. I logged thousands of miles over the last year listening to the stories of countless people, including in New Mexico. What I found, amidst the grief of relatives and the despair of addicts themselves, was hope. Read the full editorial here.

RFK Jr. Files Papers to Run as Independent Presidential Candidate in Illinois

The State-Journal Register reports: The Robert F. Kennedy Jr. campaign submitted its nomination papers — containing more than 60,000 signatures according to campaign officials — with the Illinois State Board of Elections Monday afternoon. If the election board confirms the validity of the papers, Illinois would become the ninth confirmed state that the independent has made it on the ballot. Seen as an underdog in the election now approaching four months away, RFK supporters Sean Phillips and Kirsten Bonanza of Springfield see the candidate as a needed change of pace from Biden and Trump. "Most of the way that I create my life is by asking the question, 'What will my life be like in next five years if I make this choice.'... And when I ask that about him (RFK) it's just off the hook," said Bonanza, one of approximately 30 supporters gathering outside the election board's Springfield office. "Bobby Kennedy is a statesman, when the rest are just politicians." Read the full piece here.

RFK Jr. Promises Alternate Programming to Counter ‘CNN Fake Debate’

Washington Examiner reports: While former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden trade jabs on Thursday, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was not invited, will be debating them in his own way: virtually. In front of a cardboard cutout of his father, RFK Jr.’s son Bobby Kennedy III said the Kennedy campaign would hold its own debate. “Our plan is to hold our own debate. I’m not gonna say exactly how we’re gonna do it, but we’ll have the other two candidates up there as well, say what they say live, and we’re gonna give my dad a chance to respond live,” Kennedy III said. Last week, Kennedy held a TikTok Live town hall in which he answered questions from the platform’s creators and generally spoke on campaign matters. It was organized with the help of Tiffany Cianci, who has also hosted Green Party candidate Jill Stein and libertarian candidate Chase Oliver. Read the full piece here.

OPINION: RFK Jr. Belongs On The Debate Stage

The Orlando Sentinel reports: Despite his increasing popularity, the strategy to marginalize Robert F. Kennedy Jr. prevails. His exclusion from the presidential debates confirms the ongoing contrivance to limit the impact of his candidacy. The Biden team’s ploy to marginalize Kennedy demonstrates their desperation to avoid responding to the key elements of his platform. At the core of personal attacks is the pretense that the entire Kennedy family is unified in supporting Biden’s re-election. In rehashing this falsehood, the Biden campaign is exploiting the Kennedys. The president’s handlers have organized photo-ops and events where members of the Kennedy clan have declared their preference for the incumbent. This ruse of undivided backing flies in the face of reality. There are individuals in the Kennedy lineage who support or work for President Biden. However, it is absurd to claim that there is a general endorsement from this multigenerational extended family with diverse opinions. And certainly, no member can speak for the political preferences of every Kennedy — particularly in an election year. Read the full opinion piece here.

OPINION: RFK Jr. Offers A Vision For A Fairer America That Uplifts Marginalized Communities

Albuquerque Journal reports: On Saturday (June 15), I was fortunate to get the opportunity to attend the worldwide premiere of the documentary film “Recovering America” at the Kiva Auditorium with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in attendance, introducing the film and participating in a roundtable after the film with those the film follows, and Dr. Drew moderating the panel discussion. In the film, RFK Jr. bears witness to the addiction crisis and visits extraordinary programs, charting new courses for people struggling with addiction. RFK Jr. also shares his journey to recovery, and as it occurred to me, also his journey to New Mexico, bringing his documentary on overcoming addiction to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the throes of his presidential campaign as an independent, as an outsider, to the duopoly overpowering Washington, but not an outsider to New Mexico. It occurred to me how much Robert F. Kennedy shared with New Mexico. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is standing up for progressive values and the environment. Kennedy has spent his life fighting for clean air, water, and the natural beauty of our land. His commitment to combating climate change and protecting our resources mirrors the love New Mexicans have for their unique landscapes With Kennedy in office, our state’s environmental treasures would have a strong advocate at the national level and an undying commitment to protecting the New Mexico lands and cultures. RFK Jr. Turns In More Than 5K Signatures In Nebraska

The Nebraska Examiner reports:  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ought to do his own version of storming Atlanta. Third-party presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose bid has spurred the ire of the current president as well as the previous president, turned in enough signatures this week in Nebraska that his name will likely reach the November ballot. The Kennedy campaign announced that it had turned in more than 5,000 signatures to the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office. The state’s chief election office now must check the voter registration file to verify at least 2,500 valid ones. Lane Koch, the Kennedy campaign’s regional director in the Midwest, thanked volunteers for “a historic day.” In addition to Nebraska, the Kennedy campaign said it has turned in signatures in 14 other states, including neighboring Iowa.  Kennedy is already on the ballot in at least nine states: California, Delaware, Hawaii, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah. His campaign says it is still working to get him on the ballot in all 50. Read the full article here.

Presidential Debates Should Include RFK Jr.

The Boston Herald reports:  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ought to do his own version of storming Atlanta. Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman did it in 1864, but Kennedy’s iteration would be peaceful. Still, he could capture the attention of the nation. It wouldn’t be the famous scorched-earth march to the sea, but Kennedy’s maneuver would illustrate how he is being screwed. Atlanta is the site of the first of two presidential debates between Democratic President Joe Biden, 81, and Republican challenger former President Donald Trump, 78. Kennedy, 70, is not invited. Sponsored by CNN, the one-on- one debate will take place June 27. CNN says Kennedy, a third-party candidate, failed to make the cut. Others believe that CNN, as well as Biden and Trump, simply did not want Kennedy around. Read the full opinion piece here.

RFK Jr. Is Right — Paper Ballots Will Restore Faith In Our Elections

The New York Post reports:  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is on to something. Last week he responded to reports of voting-machine irregularities in Puerto Rico’s recent primary election with a bold post on X.  “US citizens need to know that every one of their votes were counted, and that their elections cannot be hacked,” he wrote. “We need to return to paper ballots to avoid electronic interference with elections.” Hear, hear.  Although lately, complaints about voter fraud and insecure voting machines are identified with the GOP, many of RFK Jr.’s fellow Democrats — as well as the independent presidential candidate himself — have raised such concerns in the past.  Multiple computer security experts have also voiced serious worries about voting machine integrity.  Read the full article here.
