RFK Seeks To Expand Ballot Access In Campaign Built On Distaste For Major Party Nominees

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s push to get on all 50 states’ ballots took a step forward last week after his campaign announced he would appear on the ballot in the key swing state of Michigan as both major parties fret over his potential impact on November’s election.

Kennedy is mounting a longshot independent bid to challenge President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election and hoping to capitalize on broad dissatisfaction with the options for both political parties.

The number of voters who say they have high interest in November’s election hit a nearly 20-year low at this point in the race, according to a new NBC poll released Sunday. A majority of voters hold negative views of both Biden and Trump, which has created an opening for a third-party candidate to try to make an impact.
